Getting there

By Airplane

Until the new Berlin-Brandenburg Airport "Willy Brandt" (BER) becomes operational, Berlin has two international airports: the Airport Berlin-Tegel "Otto Lilienthal" (TXL) at the northwest of the town and the Airport Berlin-Schoenefeld (SXF) out of town at the southeast. Be prepared that both airports are working beyond full capacity and do not always meet the latest standards in all respects.

To get from the airport to the venue:

  • from Tegel Airport:
    • Take the express bus line TXL to Hauptbahnhof (Central Station). You need a normal ticket for the fare zones A+B (EUR 2.40). The trip takes about 20 minutes. The Central Station is about 500 meters from the venue, which means you are going to have an easy walk for that part.
    • Or take the express bus line X9 or the bus line 109 to Zoologischer Garten. From there take the S-Bahn line S5, S7 or S75 eastbound to Hauptbahnhof (Central Station). You need a normal ticket for the fare zones A+B (EUR 2.40). The trip takes about 40 minutes. The Central Station is about 500 meters from the venue, which means you are going to have an easy walk for that part.
    • Or take a taxicab. The trip takes about 15 minutes and costs about EUR 20 (including EUR 0.50 airport surcharge).
  • from Schoenefeld Airport:
    • Take the regional train line RE7 or RB14 to Berlin Hauptbahnhof (Central Station). You need a normal ticket for the fare zones A+B+C (EUR 3.10). The trip takes about 35 minutes. The Central Station is about 500 meters from the venue, which means you are going to have an easy walk for that part.
    • Or take the S-Bahn line S9 to Ostkreuz. From there take the S-Bahn line S5, S7 or S75 westbound to Hauptbahnhof (Central Station) . You need a ticket for the fare zones A+B+C (EUR 3.10). The Central Station is about 500 meters from the venue, which means you are going to have an easy walk for that part.
    • Or take a taxicab. The trip takes about 25 minutes and costs about EUR 30.

By Train

  • Take the train to Berlin Hauptbahnhof (Central Station). Leave the station at Europaplatz exit and turn right. The Central Station is about 500 meters from the venue.

The station is served by more than 1,200 trains a day. Use the online journey planner of Deutsche Bahn (German Railways) to find a connection suitable for you.

By Bus

The central bus station (ZOB) is served by several long-distance bus lines from Germany and other European countries:

To get from the central bus station to the venue: exit the ZOB at Messedamm and turn left. After 250 meters, at the crossways with Kaiserdamm, you will reach the underground station Kaiserdamm. Take the underground train line U2 direction Pankow to the station Zoologischer Garten. From there take the S-Bahn line S5, S7 or S75 eastbound to Hauptbahnhof (Central Station). You need a ticket for the fare zones A+B (EUR 2.40). The trip takes about 30 minutes. The Central Station is about 500 meters from the venue, which means you are going to have an easy walk for that part.

By Car

  • From the north take the A24 and the A10 autobahn to Oranienburg interchange. Continue on the A111 towards Berlin-Reinickendorf/Flughafen Tegel and take the exit Wedding/Kurt-Schumacher-Platz. Shortly after, turn left into Kurt-Schumacher-Damm and continue to Scharnweberstr. Turn right and continue on Scharnweberstr./Müllerstr./Chausseestr. until you reach Invalidenstr. Turn right.
  • From the west take the A2 and A10 autobahn to Nuthetal interchange. Continue on the A115 towards city center to Funkturm interchange. Continue on the A100 towards Wedding. At the end of the A100 autobahn continue on Seestr. until you reach Müllerstr. Turn right and continue on Müllerstr./Chausseestr. until you reach Invalidenstr. Turn right.
  • From the south take the A13 or the A10 autobahn to Schönefeld interchange. Continue on the A113 towards city center to Neukölln interchange. Continue on the A100 towards Wedding. At the end of the A100 autobahn continue on Seestr. until you reach Müllerstr. Turn right and continue on Müllerstr./Chausseestr. until you reach Invalidenstr. Turn right.
  • From the east take the E30 and the A10 autobahn to Schönefeld interchange. Continue on the A113 towards city center to Neukölln interchange. Continue on the A100 towards Wedding. At the end of the A100 autobahn continue on Seestr. until you reach Müllerstr. Turn right and continue on Müllerstr./Chausseestr. until you reach Invalidenstr. Turn right.

If you don't take the autobahn: Driving northbound or southbound, take the B96 until you reach the crossways with Invalidenstr. (exit Hauptbahnhof of the tunnel). Driving eastbound or westbound, take the B2/B5 until you reach Großer Stern (around the Victory Column). Continue on Spreeweg towards Bellevue and onward on Paulstr. until you reach Alt-Moabit. Turn right and continue on Alt-Moabit until you reach Invalidenstr. Turn left.

Please note that there are no parking spaces near the venue.
Please note that in the City Center of Berlin only cars that meet certain exhaust emission standards are allowed.

Regional and Local Transport

  • Take a local train or the S-Bahn lines S5, S7 or S75 to Berlin Hauptbahnhof (Central Station). The Central Station is about 500 meters from the venue.
  • Or take the underground train line U6 North to the station Naturkundemuseum. Use the exit Invalidenstr. From there it is a 650 meters walk to the venue.
  • Or take the bus lines 120, 240, 245, 123 or 147 to the stop Invalidenpark.

The venue is located in the fare zone "Berlin A".

 

The organizers of the conference have made no arrangements for travels. As a visitor, you have to plan your travel to and from the event on your own, and you will have to book it on your own account, too. Accepted speakers may apply for a partial grant of their travel expenses, but must still book their travel on their own in due time.
