During the day the best option is to take a shuttle bus towards the train station and then the train.

Night time, direct way
No trains are available during the night time, so the only option is a bus. The bus is operated by TPL FVG (info at https://tplfvg.it/en/) and takes approximately 1 hour and 10 minutes.

From Trieste airport (TRS)
From this airport the best option is to reach the Udine train station by bus.
