Local Classics
Pordenone and Friuli Venezia Giulia boast a rich gastronomic identity. You should try regional specialties such as San Daniele ham, Montasio cheese, and Frico (a traditional dish made of cheese and potatoes). And others typical composed plates that restaurants or trattorie can serve to you for dinner or lunch.
Drinks
The region is world-renowned for its wines (such as those from the Friuli Grave or Collio areas). Try Merlot, Refosco or Cabernet for the reds or Verduzzo, Friulano (for which there has been a long diatribe with Hungarian for the name Tocai, and we have lost it), Pinot (in the white or grey fashion) and many, many others.
Special Needs
Most restaurants in the city center are familiar with vegan and gluten-free requirements. The region promotes “Food and Wine” routes that cater to diverse preferences.
