ODFAutoTests: Automatically testing of loading, saving and rendering of any ODF software

ODFAutoTests is a project that contains tests for ODF software. The core of the project is a set of XML files that contain ODF fragments and expected results, logical and visual. By running these tests in ODF implementations and comparing the results, we can assess the quality of the various implementations.

The internet browsers started to improve rendering quality quickly when the ACID tests were published. These tests show, in a quick, fun and mediagenic way, how well a browser implements the CSS standards.

For ODF, we do not have such tests yet and it is not likely that someone can develop test documents as good as the ACID tests. But that should not stop us from developing good tests that are independent of the ODF implementation.

ODFAutoTests is a project that aims to be such tests. The core of the project is a set of XML files that contain ODF fragments and expected results, logical and visual. By running these tests in ODF implementations and comparing the results, we can assess the quality of the various implementations.
