Food & Lodging

Food

This is a list of typical "trattorie" offering dishes from the local tradition. Food in Rome is usually good almost everywhere, with the exception of places for tourists (they usually have someone in front of the main door trying to lure people into the location). Although not vegetarian/vegan friendly (most dishes, including pasta, have some meat), it is possible to have vegetarian/vegan choices such as "pasta al pomodoro" (pasta with tomato, vegan), "cacio e pepe" (cheese and pepper, vegetarian), "pasta all'arrabbiata" (pasta with spicy tomato sauce, vegan), "carciofi alla romana" (boiled artichokes, vegan), "carciofi alla giudia" (fried artichokes, vegan), "cicoria ripassata" (chicory with garlic and some pepper, vegan). Pasta "all'uovo", which is always specified in the menu, contains some egg, but you can easily ask to have it replaced by normal pasta (wheat and water, and nothing else). Everything is cooked using olive oil, as butter and animal fat do not belong to our tradition, but you can double check with the waiter.

Rome offers a large number of lodging options. We provide a short list of 3-star hotels, B&B and guest houses (run by nuns) close to metro stations, at a reasonable distance from the conference location. If any of the listed accommodations doesn't suit your needs, just use booking websites such as booking.com to find an alternative (but always check on the map how far is the closest metro station).

Please note, each attendee is responsible for booking his/her hotel room!
