Visa

Dear LibreOffice conference participant,

Thank you for your interest in attending the LibreOffice conference in Bern September 2-5 2014.

Depending on your nationality, you may need national passports, other travel documents or even a visa to enter Switzerland, which is part of Schengen Area:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Schengen_Area

Please consult the following overview of ID and visa provisions (organized by nationality) to find out what documents you need for traveling to Switzerland:
https://www.bfm.admin.ch/content/dam/data/bfm/rechtsgrundlagen/weisungen/visa/bfm/bfm-anh01-liste1-e.pdf

If you need a visa, please contact your nearest Swiss embassy in order to clarify your visa application process, the prerequisites and the necessary documents. The list of all diplomatic and consular representations of Switzerland in other countries can be found here:
http://www.eda.admin.ch/eda/en/home/reps.html
Visa application, decision and issue of a visa will be handled exclusively by the embassy.

If the embassy asks you to submit a letter of invitation from the LibreOffice conference organizers, please send me the following information:

  • surname (family name)
  • first name (given name)
  • fate of birth (year-month-day)
  • sex (male/female)
  • passport number
  • your complete postal address

After rechecking your information with the LibreOffice developers, I will send you the letter of invitation via e-mail. The letter of invitation does neither imply any funding of your travel costs nor any organization of your individual trip to Switzerland.

If you have any further questions, feel free to contact me by e-mail.

All the best, and hope to see you in Bern!
